Formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1986, the Goo Goo Dolls grew from punk and alternative beginnings into a widely recognized melodic rock band. Singer and guitarist John Rzeznik and bassist and vocalist Robby Takac have anchored the group through a long recording and touring career. Their 1998 album Dizzy Up the Girl became a defining release, featuring “Iris,” “Slide,” and “Black Balloon.” Earlier and later favorites include “Name,” “Here Is Gone,” and “Big Machine,” while the 2022 album Chaos in Bloom added newer material to their catalog.

Expect a guitar-led live performance shaped by the band's mix of energetic rock songs and emotionally direct ballads. “Iris” has become a signature communal singalong, and the group's extensive catalog gives the set plenty of room for familiar hits. The announced lineup also features Def Leppard and The Struts. Specific set times and the order of performances may vary; check event updates before heading to the arena.

Capital One Arena sits in downtown Washington, a short walk from the city's Chinatown and Penn Quarter neighborhoods. The central location makes it convenient to combine the show with dinner or other plans nearby, though downtown traffic and transit demand can increase around major events.
